"This improvement was valued to Avery Vann in the year 1829 and paid for by the government, Charles Vann son of Avery Vann remained in possession until the place was rented out by the state in 1831, he then was dispossessed by [General?] James Hemphill who was the renter. This place is a good stand on the old Alabama Road and is worth $3 per acre rent per annum. Valued and on the direction of the commissioner
